Prolotherapy for Musculoskeletal Care

Prolotherapy uses a concentrated dextrose solution to stimulate the body’s repair response in ligaments and tendons. The goal is to improve tissue integrity and reduce recurring discomfort from overload or instability. Every prolotherapy session at Clarity Wellness Clinic is performed under real time ultrasound guidance on the Mindray TE5 for accurate placement and safety.

What Prolotherapy may help with

  • Joint laxity & hypermobility (double jointed)

  • Repeated sprain & strain injuries

  • Tendon or ligament pain from repetitive use

  • Discomfort related to postural stress or poor tissue support

Our Approach

  • 1. Consultation

The first step is a dedicated visit that includes history, physical exam, and bedside musculoskeletal ultrasound. Prior imaging and reports are reviewed. If prolotherapy is appropriate, a procedure appointment is scheduled. This is usually the following week. Same day treatment is sometimes available when preparation allows.

  • 2. Procedure day

A focused ultrasound exam maps the treatment areas. The skin is cleansed and a local anesthetic is applied for comfort. Under ultrasound guidance the dextrose solution is placed along the targeted ligaments or tendon insertions. The injection portion typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on how many regions are treated.

  • 3. Aftercare and follow up

Mild soreness is common for one to three days as the repair response begins. Short term activity modification and simple mobility work are recommended. Many patients complete a short series spaced a few weeks apart.
